Audubon's Aviary: The Birds of North America

Museum Field Trip
From: 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM
$ 75.00

Bring your students to view John James Audubon's beautiful watercolors produced for his seminal folio The Birds of North America. For the first time, the New-York Historical Society is displaying the complete Audubon collection in three installments. In a tour of Part I of this groundbreaking exhibition, students will trace the development of Audubon's career from enthusiast to master, and practice the techniques of close observation and identification that made Audubon's work not just aesthetically beautiful, but scientifically significant. In the process, they will learn how Audubon became the "patron saint" of the naturalist movement in the US.
